Your name in Hangul, and eight other things Korea can't decide for you.

Type your name below. It becomes Hangul as you go, and every block is tappable if you want to see how the letter is put together. Then spin for the rest and keep it on one card.

Nine tools

Spin the ones you want, ignore the rest.

Every result has an Add to my card button. The card is further down and it is yours — nothing here needs an account.

Your souvenir

One card, built from whatever you kept.

Save it as an image and send it to whoever asked you the question in the first place.

How this works

  1. Type a name. Each Hangul block is a syllable: a starting consonant, a vowel, and sometimes a final consonant underneath. Tap one to see it split apart.
  2. Spin what you like. Dinner, a district, a drama, a palette, a phrase. Filters narrow the pool before the spin.
  3. Keep the good ones. Anything you add fills a row on the card.
  4. Save the card. It renders as a PNG in your browser — no upload, no account.

By default nothing leaves your device. To share cards across devices and show what everyone else is landing on, apply db/schema.sql to a Postgres database, set POSTGRES_URL, and switch the page to db: "rest" in window.KS_CONFIG. The API routes in /api already speak to it, and fall back to local storage if it is unreachable.

Everything on this page

The full lists, if you would rather read than spin.

The wheels above pick from these. Nothing is hidden behind a spin — if you want to browse, browse.

About

A hobby page, not a language school.

Friends overseas kept asking the same things: how do I write my name, what do we eat, which neighbourhood is worth an afternoon, what do I call this person. I got tired of typing the same answers, so they live here instead.

Is the Hangul spelling of my name official?

No. It follows the sound of what you typed through a small phonetic map. Real name transliteration depends on the person, and a passport or a registration office will not accept this. It is a starting point and a party trick.

Why does the same English letter become different Hangul?

Because Korean writes sounds, not English letters. Silent letters get dropped, and a consonant at the end of a syllable often sounds different from the same consonant at the start. If you want to learn the rules properly rather than watch a page guess, the sister site Hangul Block is built for exactly that.

Do I need an account?

No, and there isn't one. Your card sits in this browser. Clear your site data and it is gone.

Is any of it accurate?

The food, districts, dramas and phrases are real. The fortunes are jokes. The names are plausible rather than meaningful — Korean given names carry hanja that this page does not pick for you.
